Happy Imbolc! It was a powerful moon last night. Heads down though again with snowdrops and aconites, that same coast, just 250 miles north.

Thank you for sharing news of this new project, Charlotte and I wish you happiness. Forgive me, but Mark was a fortunate man to have been so loved. Your recollections of him in these posts have been very moving. Be well.

Many thanks Mark for your kind words. Much appreciated. I was lucky indeed to be equally cherished by Mark for all those years. A very happy Imbolc to you and a flowering year. Best wishes, Charlotte

Very best of luck with the new project. My embers have definitely not been for cooking as of late and I very much miss that.

I recently learned something that may not be of interest to you, maybe not. The combination of "What Goes Down in My Kitchen Goes Down in the World" followed by a Gary Synder quote suggests you might. Gary's second wife, Joanne Kyger, is one of several figures championed at Naropa and is largely seen as having elevated the journal to an art form. In "The Japan and India Journals 1960–1964" she apparently documents that Snyder kicked her multiple times.

I have no idea if or how he changed over the years. I remain interested in the work of problematic artists (both male and female) but this still rattles pretty loudly against the zen / naturalist image of Synder and leaves your sentence "What goes down in the kitchen goes down in the world" pulsing with resonance.

Thanks Randall! Here’s to sparking the stove.
