You gift us the true magic of writing - which itself is un fathomable , precious , timeless … thank you for making the effort and for pressing send - allowing us on the dance floor that comes to life with words- 🙏
Charlotte, you were here when I found Substack and one of the first I read. I have found meaning and reflection from the writing that flowed from your life’s journey. Connecting with someone who respected the Earth and all her beings, I felt less alone. I am grateful for what you have shared.
The wise intuit when to powerdown and breathe deeply. I wish for you that space.
Thank you for your honesty, and for all that you have witnessed to in your writing. As a newcomer, I look forward to reading your past posts. I send good-willed wishes as you take time away from writing...
Thank you for what you have given us in this season. I am a recent comer to your path of writing and life here, I think through Dougald Hine, and have always found it bracing and— to use an old fashioned word- blessing. May your healing be real.
Well, I've only just discovered you, but sorry to see you go. Especially because I'm curious about your meetings with the flowers and the dreaming afterwards. I do something like that with herbs, and then a dream journey afterward. We may be a rare breed of kin, if we are both doing the same practice!
Thanks Kathleen. There are several pieces about our plant practice in the Red Tent you might enjoy. Also in my book '52 Flowers That Shook The World', and Mark's The Plant Pamphlets'. All leafy best, Charlotte
I don’t know if it is a requirement to avoid receiving monetary compensation at ones given or chosen craft to really look at it and breath life into it and to know what the medium, and others need, but historically it seems to be a recurring North Star.
This is an essay I wish I had written myself, though it comes from experiences I am not yet prepared to have in order to offer to others.
A true artist knows their worth and what matters whether anyone is paying and I am certain a true artist, as you have said, “is always making the same piece based on the same metaphysical obligation to others: to love the Earth and liberate the human spirit”.
If I could afford only one Substack subscription it would be yours and you would still be underpaid.
Thank you for the wisdom you have shared, it has truly been a blessing and a gift that may with some luck be one of the things that helps save the life of my double act.
Thanks Randall! It's often a question of luck or circumstance whether writers are properly paid for their work. All of us would rather write than have to do the day job, or pander to the status quo. Substack offers that opportunity through paid subscriptions, but you have to put a lot in to make the model work, time and capacity I don't have at present.
Good luck with everything and thanks for reading and responding so heartfully to the pieces. Really appreciated.
Thank you for bringing us your fierce truths and adamantine spirit. Grief breaks the heart like a clay bowl, yet it goes on beating, as it must. I hope your path is gentler, awhile.
Here I am, a complete stranger, coming late to the party and feeling sorry, for it seems I have missed something—the joy of riding along, though all your writing is still here for all of us. Nevertheless, I hope your flight takes you wherever your heart dictates. Fly well, and please know that your 52 flowers shook my world, too. I got only one so far, but I am in no hurry.
Thanks Fontini and welcome! The Red Tent is a non-linear journey, so lots to read here, including other flowers. And more to come (just not brand-new pieces for a while). All best, Charlotte

Dear Charlotte
Thank you for all you've shared, so eloquently, so movingly.
I feel your pain, and wish you deep rest and healing.
Dear Charlotte, a beautiful farewell, almost an ode to writing. I’ve enjoyed and valued your uneasy chair. Thank you.
I’m reading words but my body brings saliva and
tasteheartache to my tongue and bones

Thanks @darkhorse, Love that 'adamantine spirit'! Hope it will forebear...
So I’ll leave my mistakes as they are. Thank you for your gift
