This was so so wonderful. So rich with ideas of relationship and nourishment for thoughts about what I am to become now that I’m entering the last quarter of my life. I’ve shared it with several friends. I’ve got mushrooms popping up and deliquescing all around my wonderful garden in Sebastopol, Northern California. Thank you so much. 🍄🧡🍁

Thinking, Being like a mushroom is a phrase that came to me too, a few years ago, in response to all the cancelling of people and surveillance. It reminds me that nothing can happen 'on top' before you have established the underground part, the part that nourishes and informs. Also, when one sees no fruit from ones' work, to trust and wait, for the fruits will come when the time is right.

A phenomenal essay. Polyphonic awareness, being mushroom, connecting with the strands underfoot...there is so much guidance in this piece, explained with such compelling, illuminating images and metaphors. Thank you!

Something relevant that I read a while back - and found a little troubling - was this piece: https://gabepopkin.substack.com/p/the-wood-wide-web-a-story-too-good

I think it has something to say about lone human heroes and fungi, as well as warm feelings about 'community.'

gnostic kind of dream, that!

This whole piece! I will need to read this several more times to truly understand the layers.

Many thanks mycelium.

The work of change - deeply grounded networks break down the dying capitalist-state system. What may emerge? The universe is not anthropocentric.

This made me cry Charlotte. All month I’ve had this refrain in my head: In our desire to possess and control we have forgotten how to belong. To each other, to the Earth. Thank you for honoring our teachers like this. Thank you for including my work in Going Under too, was so moved reading that. We have so much work to do together.
